TLDR: Loved it. Great sweet smell. Creative high. Would recommend.
Ice Cream Cake comes from Wedding Cake and Gelato 33. That usually means a heavy, sweet, evening strain — something that sits you down and keeps you there. Most write-ups treat it that way: creamy, sedating, built for the end of the day. What I got was different enough that it stayed with me.
The smell is the first honest thing about it. Open the jar and it is bakery-level sweet: vanilla, cream, dough. Not a hint. Not a “note of.” It fills the space. There is a soft earth and a faint nutty edge underneath that stops it from turning into pure candy, but the dominant character is dessert. It smells like the name. That matters more than it should. Plenty of strains promise a flavour and deliver something thinner. This one holds.
The high opened with a clean mental shift. Not racing, not scattered, not the jittery edge some sativas chase. Ideas connected more easily. Associations moved sideways instead of locking into the same loop. It was useful — the kind of creative space where writing, sketching, or just thinking about a problem feels less forced. You stay present enough to work with it. The body followed later: warm, weighted, present, but it did not erase the headspace early. At a moderate dose the creative window stayed open long enough to do something with it. Higher amounts lean heavier, as most of these indica-leaning desserts do, but that was not the experience that defined it for me.
It is still not a strain for sharp daytime edges or anything that requires precise focus under pressure. The body weight is real. What it is good for is the evening stretch where you want the noise turned down without the mind going completely blank. The sweet smell makes the ritual of grinding and packing part of the point. You notice it again when the high is settling.
Most of the published notes lean hard into the sleepy, couch-bound reputation. That version exists. The cut I had gave a clearer creative front end before the weight arrived. Smell alone makes it easy to like. The high, in the form I got, made it worth keeping around.
Would recommend.
